State Parks in Arizona

There are many state parks in Arizona; it just depend on what you are looking for. Arizona offers very diverse landscapes such as lakes, mountain, forests, desert, Indian grounds, sand dunes, creators, canyons, etc.

One in particular is the beautiful Lake Havasu, located in the western part of the state. It has one of the most famous bridges, the London bridge. The Grand Canyon is probably the most popular park. This huge trench like gorge is about 400 feet deep. It carves through Northern Arizona and was formed by the Colorado River over time. It is one of the first and most spectacular parks. The north rim is not open during the winter months, but hiking and camping is available the rest of the year. They offer horse trips down the mountain, train rides, helicopter rides, etc. Some well-known winter parks are Catalina State Park, Lake Havasu State Park and Alamo Lake State Park. They all offer a remarkable outdoor experience. It's the weather that makes Arizona's winter months so sought after.

As Arizona has grown and developed, some 30 places have been set aside over the past half century for recreational use. These include lakes, rivers, historic buildings and ecologically-rich natural areas, etc. The State's Park Foundation has tried to preserve and promote this in order to turn them into Arizona State Parks.

When you decide to take a trip to Arizona to catch all the sites and natural wonders, you may want to check in with your travel agent. At least get online, do some research and plan your trip carefully. You don't want to miss anything Arizona has to offer.
