South American Vacations

If you like to surf and have never been to Brazil, you need to try the world class surfing there. Itacare, Brazil is a small fishing village that is surrounded by rainforests and white sandy beaches. This coastline has superb breaks for any level of surfer, even if you are a beginner! The Brazilian Surf School in Itacare was opened in 1997, and the classes are taught from the official teaching program of the Australian Surfriding Association. The instructors will surf right beside you to help you with any problems or just to give you encouragement. You will be given two daily lessons and video tapes to help you fine tune your skills.

The southern end of South America is known as the Patagonia region. Argentina and Chile are located partially in this territory. Tourists can travel the south coast of Argentino Lake, cross over the Piedra Bueana about 40 kilometers and arrive at El Calafate. El Calafate is known as the capital of the glaciers in the Los Glaciares National Park. The park has 47 glaciers that all drain into the Atlantic. Perito Moreno Glacier is a mere 50 miles from El Calafate. You can hear the ice cracking 24 hours a day. They have viewing platforms and easy trails to visit the glacier.

You can take a day boat excursion to visit more than just the Perito Moreno Glacier in the Patagonia region. You will see various sizes and shapes of icebergs in the lake. While visiting the glacier be sure to stop by the many ranches along the way. You can see many creatures of the wild and enjoy the cuisine of Argentina.
