Arizona Has Many State Parks to Enjoy

There are numerous Arizona State Parks available for the enjoyment of the entire family, whether they are residents or visitors to Arizona.

The Lost Dutchman State Park is located five-miles north of Apache Junction at the base of the Superstition Mountains. This park is open 365 days a year, but the best time of the year for a visit is during the winter months. The park offers hiking trails for family enjoyment, campsites for those avid campers and picnic facilities for the day trips.

A second area of interest is Jerome State Historic Park, which is located in northern Arizona. The park has a historic mansion for the history buffs, antique mining equipment to see and video presentations for viewing.

The Homolovi Ruins State Park is located one mile north of the town of Winslow. The park has a campground that is open year round and there are numerous activities to enjoy in the park. Three of the Homolovi Ruins are accessible to the public. The interpretive signs give insight to the life and activities of the inhabitants from long ago.

There are over 100 species of birds that are found in the area for avid bird watchers. There are also numerous mammals and reptiles that can be found in the park. For the more energetic visitors there are dirt roads available in the park for hiking and mountain biking.

Slide Rock State Park offers a fun way to cool off on the sloping and sculptured slide rocks. The park is located in Oak Creek Canyon and can be very crowded on a hot day or on the weekend. The park also offers hiking trails and picnic areas.

These are only a few of the many state parks located in Arizona that are worth visiting.
