The Beauty of Colorado State Parks

The waterfalls at the Rifle Falls State Park are very beautiful and photogenic. There are numerous trees and an abundance of greenery that surrounds the falls which adds to the dramatic setting. The campground is open year-round, but reservations need to be made ahead of time. The park has 13 drive-in RV/tent campsites and 7 walk-in tent campsites. Both types of campsites have a picnic table, fire pits/fire rings, restrooms, and shared water hydrants. Pets are permitted, but must be on a leash at all times.

The San Luis Lakes State Park is abundant with wildlife and has frequent visits from migratory waterfowl. There are level gravel trails for visitors interested in hiking or mountain biking. Fishing is allowed year round for rainbow trout in San Luis Lakes. Campsites are available at the Mosca Campground. There is access to electrical hookups, picnic tables, fire grates and drinking water. The campground also provides a modern bathroom with restrooms, hot showers and laundry facilities. Water-sports of various types and swimming are allowed in designated areas.

The best time to visit the Roxborough State Park is in the spring of the year. The beautiful wildflowers are in bloom and the weather is mild. The park has red rock formations and is home to wildlife such as black bears and mule deer. There are 14 miles of hiking trails available that give you a view of red sandstone ridges. The Carpenter Peak trail is available for the hikers who want a more challenging experience. The hike is 6.4 miles and the peak reaches an elevation of 7,160 feet.
