Silver Falls State Park

This beautiful area called Silver Falls State Park is located approximately 25 east of Salem, Oregon.  One of the many state parks of Oregon, Silver Falls features a display of some ten different waterfalls through the canyons.

A lush setting of greenery all around and the sounds of the different water cascades can make you feel like you have entered a mystical arena of some sort.  There are even four  of the waterfalls that look almost like amphitheaters where you can actually walk behind the running water and feel the mist on your face.  Silver Falls can be a true adventure with over 26 miles of walking trails and 14 miles of horse riding trails.  There is plenty of bird watching and a variety of wildlife to watch as well.  With all of nature’s sounds amongst the trees, the rich landscapes, and the sounds of the serene water flowing all throughout the park, it would almost seem like you had entered your own rain forest.  The featured waterfalls range from the great South Falls being 177 feet to the Drake Falls of only 27 feet.

Silver Falls State Park is open to camping from spring to fall.  If you happen to be visiting  the area in the winter, there are cabins available for rent.  The breathtaking views are well worth the stay.  The campsites offer modern facilities including: a dump station, electric, swimming, and typical picnic areas.

So if you are looking for a relaxing type of hike or walk, the sights of Silver Falls State Park will certainly not disappoint you.  This is a true “getaway” from the normal hustle and bustle of life.
