California State Parks

California State Parks are divided into twelve regions. They are located on the coastal side of the state as well as inland. The list is seemingly endless due to the large amount of park area in this state.

There is an abundance of activities such as bike trails, campgrounds, hiking, wildlife viewing, horseback trails, windsurfing and scuba diving. Available for the visitors’ enjoyment are guided tours, nature trails, primitive and environmental campsites. Many parks have numerous facilities including boat mooring and ramps, lodging, camping, trailer and RV hookups, showers and food service. Other attractions include archeology museums and historical sites. People with disabilities can also have access to California State Parks, as they are wheelchair friendly.  

One adventure would be to drive through the northern coast of the ancient redwood parks. A blink of the sun shines through the dense covered forests, a tower of redwood trees formed into beautiful landscaped roads. Enjoy camping in the wilderness under the stars and savor every moment of the peaceful surroundings.  Take in a sunrise or sunset swim or surf the California waves. Picnic on a sandy beach or by a lake and be surrounded by the sounds of birds and wildlife.

Each park offers the visitor something different and exciting to discover.  Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, which is situated in the Napa Valley wine country, offers camping, swimming, picnicking and hiking trails. Big Sur State Park is comprised of redwood, maple, oak and sycamore trees. Wildlife at Big Sur includes black-tail deer, gray squirrels, water ouzels and kingfishers. A lodge is nestled right in the park for an overnight stay under the stars.
